"I grew personally and professionally, thanks my mom. My mother, Gabriella
Rivalta, studied the art of ceramics under the famous teacher Ballardini,
who was also the Director of the International Museum of the Ceramics in
Faenza.
I began my official collaboration with her in '94 at the studio "Julia Bèla"
in Avellino, along with my musician harpist wife, Pina Rubino...who just
happened to share a passion for maiolica ceramics.
The shop itself is situated in an evocative Greco-Roman-inspired palace,
dating from the early seventeenth century.
This is where my ceramic work came to light.
These creations are realized with glaze, crystalline, oxides and metals,
that are then cooked in a furnace that is a temperature near 1000 degrees
Celsius..that's more than twice the surface temperature of Mercury, the
planet closest to the sun!".
